The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Another jammed packed week, another jammed packed weekend, with some good, some bad, and some downright ugly.  Here’s the breakdown.

First, the Blog.
The Good:  My blog. I like my little creation, though it could really use a face lift.
The Bad:  The time it takes to blog on a somewhat regular basis.
The Ugly:  That I only managed one lame ass post last week.

Last Week:
The Good:
 A showing.
The Bad:  Only one showing.
The Ugly:  The feedback from the showing:  priced too high.

The Good:
The PTO carnival fundraiser. The Bad:  The amount of money that we spent, for and at, said fundraiser.
-$40 in basket donations
-$40 in ticket purchases
-$10 in raffle tickets
-3 batches of baked brownies made for the fundraiserThe Ugly:  Little Lady’s end of the night meltdown. (This is her pre-meltdown.)

The Good:  Grandparents coming to watch two baseball games.
The Bad:  The sunburn I now sport as a ring around my neck and as a stripe down one of my arms.  I guess two games before 1 pm in the hot sun will do that to you.
The Ugly:  Saturday night dinner at Fridays.  Where should I begin? With the piece of walnut my son found in his mandarin oranges, or with the chunk of mystery something, that my husband found in his salad dressing?  I’m pretty sure the walnut wins.  Or, how bout the kids mac and cheese that came out as soup, or the manager, who lied his way through several explanations of why our dining experience was total crap?  Of course, maybe, it was the severe stomach pains I suffered later that night, that did it for me.  I don’t know?  All I can tell you was that the meal was a disaster from start to finish and although the manager comped our meals, it really doesn’t matter, my son could have ended up in the hospital that night. Thank God, he has an eagle’s eye when it comes to his food, and frankly, I don’t blame him.  I think it will be a long time before we go back there, again.

The Good:  We had an open house, today, so instead of doing lame things to fill our three hours we decided to visit the Battleship NJ.  What a great experience.I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did, nor was I sure how the kids would do.  But the boys loved everything, from self-guided tours to the guns, of course.  As a bonus, I finally learned the difference between port and starboard. The Bad:  Getting ready for an open house, which equaled two and half hours of cleaning and stress.
The Ugly:  Little Lady’s pooping out on the end of the tour.  It was a little much for her, and of course, she can’t really appreciate it as much as the boys, and she didn’t have her own headset, which just set her in a bad mood from the beginning. My husband thought they would have been a waste, and they probably would have been, but you know, it’s keeping up with the brothers, in this house and not having her own headsets, well that just wasn’t flying with her.  We took turns carrying her for the last leg of the tour.  She fell asleep on my husband’s shoulder on the way back to the car.My girl, she’s usually a trooper, but keeping up with the boys’ schedules has her running on empty lately, and it’s catching up to her.

Hope your weekend was more good than bad, and definitely not ugly.

  1. Too funny. I was just catching up on your blog after taking the motorhome to Pensacola for a week. On the way back, we stopped to tour the USS Alabama battleship and the USS Drum submarine, same story, Rich and the boys loved it. Me and Sophie hung out in the RV for most of the tour. She quit after about 45 minutes. I didn’t even get to see the sub which was “AWESOME” according to the boys. I did get to see a very large alligator in the water coming down from the ship though :).Happy Memorial Day!!!
